Roseto degli Abruzzi

Roseto degli Abruzzi is also known as the town of the Roses, one of the most beautiful tourist resorts to spend a vacation by the sea on the Abruzzo coast. Roseto degli Abruzzi is a seaside resort that thrives on tourism and offers one of the most beautiful seas of the long Abruzzo coast. During the summer season it is a destination for tourists looking for clean sea, wide beaches, fine sand, beach establishments, relaxation and no big crowds! The large promenade of Roseto, which has been completely renovated, is perfect for enjoying walks in the shade of spectacular palm trees. During the summer months, it hosts cultural activities, concerts, evening markets and theme nights in the many beach establishments! Festivals and town festivals are unmissable events to taste typical dishes of the Abruzzo culinary tradition and wines from local wineries.
The Municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi is one of the most beautiful Blue Flag resorts on the Abruzzese Riviera and every summer season it is a destination for tourists looking for clean sea, wide beaches, fine sand, bathing establishments directly on the beach, relaxation and little crowding. The Roseto promenade is beautiful for walks in the shade of the large palm trees and during the summer months it hosts cultural activities, concerts, evening markets and for lovers of cycling, it is possible to take the new cycle path that runs along the entire promenade, from north to south.

ON THE COAST OF ABRUZZO – Clean sea and fine sand beach
The coast in the municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi stretches for over 10 km and offers completely different scenarios to experience the sea! Imagine choosing from among the wild and uncontaminated beach of the Borsacchio Nature Reserve, located north of Roseto, or the super-equipped beach with modern bathing establishments, which offer many opportunities for fun and entertainment, or to play sports directly on beach tennis, beach volleyball, basketball courts and much more. In the south, near the marina of Porto Rose, the scenery changes again from fine sand beaches to stones and rocks, and deep sea!

GREEN FLAG – The ideal beach for children
The municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi has been awarded the Green Flag since 2012 as a beach recommended by pediatricians! The Green Flag is a recognition that is approved by SIPPS (Italian Association of Preventive and Social Pediatrics). The main and important evaluation criteria include having a beach with a very wide sandy shore, equipped with umbrellas sufficiently large and distant from each other and games for children. In addition, the sand must be fine and slope gently into the sea, with shallow and clear waters. These and many other features make the beach of Roseto degli Abruzzi one of the most suitable for a beach vacation with children!

The sea and the mountains of Abruzzo generate excellent foods and wines, thanks to the raw materials that only this land can offer. It is possible to taste quality wines such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo or Pecorino, produced from the vineyards that can be seen on the hills of Roseto, as well as fine extra virgin olive oil produced by the olive groves of Tortiglione, or visit the farms that produce pecorino cheese and the famous sheep kebabs, our specialty!

NATURE Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park
Our region Abruzzo is the greenest region in Europe, with its 3 National Parks: in Abruzzo you are spoiled for choice! Thanks to its location, Roseto is the perfect place to discover the natural beauty of Abruzzo. Very well connected with roads and highways, it is an ideal starting point for any excursion, even because it lies in a central position, just 45 minutes by car from the highest peak in the Apennines, Gran Sasso! For cycling lovers, Roseto offers a beautiful cycle path that runs along the entire seafront, from north to south. The first section that has been built is that of the main seafront, which goes from a roundabout to the other and runs along the entire promenade. During the day you practically ride in the shade of palm trees with the sea in the background and when the sun goes down it is still enjoyable because the path is very well lit. Even in the peripheral stretches, especially the southern one, going towards the marina of Porto Rose, the cycle path offers spectacular scenery as you pedal less than 10 meters away from the sea! And if you don’t have a bike or don’t want to take it with you, there are several shops to rent one.

What to visit in Roseto degli Abruzzi in Abruzzo? The medieval village of Montepagano is the oldest hamlet of Roseto degli Abruzzi. It rises on the hill that faces the town of Roseto degli Abruzzi.

Cerrano Park
Very close to Roseto degli Abruzzi, in the Teramo area, between two municipalities, Pineto and Silvi, this marine area borders 7 kilometers of coastline and completes a program of environment protection and enhancement, alongside the network of underwater oases that have allowed, over these years, to preserve, repopulate and study the marine ecosystem.

Atri Badlands
A few kilometers from Roseto degli Abruzzi lies the WWF Regional Nature Reserve Atri Badlands. The oasis, which strecthes for about 380 hectares, confirms the variety of the Italian natural landscape and the biodiversity of the hilly areas.

An enchanting hilly art town, Atri is one of the most popular neighboring places with tourists. The center of the town is bordered by lanes and stairways that branch off from the main brick street overlooked by old farmhouses, monuments, historic buildings, churches, museums and striking views.

Salinello Gorges
The spectacle offered by nature here is truly enchanting and is drawn by the beautiful images created by the marvelous play of rocks, up to 200 meters high, which are reflected in the water, while the light shines and spreads all around. Along the walls of the rocks there are also a series of caves where hermits in prayer stayed in the past. The gorges offer a peculiar and fascinating view, to be discovered and fully experienced: in this suggestive scenario you can dive in the fresh and clear waters of the river, spending a few hours in total relaxation and in contact with pristine nature.

Abruzzo is one of the Italian regions with more castles, many of which have become very well known over time both for the architectural beauty and the territory in which they were built. Many of the castles can be visited and they have then become an unmissable destination for those who come on vacation in Abruzzo.
One of the most famous castles, according to a ranking drawn up by the illustrious National Geographic magazine, is that of Rocca Calascio, included among the 15 most beautiful castles in the world! We also like to point out that it is also the highest in Italy, with its 1460 meters! The setting in which the castle stands is of a unique beauty: inside the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, so much so that since the 1980s, the castle has been the natural setting for famous films such as Lady Hawke, The name of the rose, The American and recently the TV series on Padre Pio. Over the years it has become a very popular tourist destination in Abruzzo, even because of the ease to reach the fortress. The visit to the castle is free.
